Our story

──────────────────

Dr. Dana Decker was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She grew up working on horse farms and her adventures took her to Florida where she met her husband Bill. Together, they chose to make a huge life-change and moved to Australia when Dana was accepted into the veterinary program at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. After graduating in 2012 they packed up again and moved to Colorado, where Dana began working at a high volume commercial horse breeding facility as the on-site veterinarian. In 2014, Dana made the decision to switch to small animal medicine and has been loving it ever since.  After living outside of Canada for 15 years, Dana and Bill decided to pack up their 3 dogs and 2 horses to move to Okotoks in order to be closer to family. They have a special love for “squishy faces” (bulldogs, etc) but adore all animals. We cannot wait to meet you and your pets and help you with your veterinary needs!

Alex Fisher

Veterinary Assistant

Alex graduated from Bow Valley College in May 2016 where she received a certificate in the field of Veterinary Office Assistant. You may have seen her around SE Calgary working as a technician assistant since then.

Alex loves all animals, but she is happy to be called a “cat person”, as she has never been without a feline friend beside her. Even though she has a deep passion for our furry feline companions, she still has a soft, caring spot in her heart for the canine variety as well. She has always had a passion for animals and is grateful to work with and care for them every day. Alex has shared her home with Maria, a sassy little black cat for the past 19 years!!

Alex is excited to be a part of the Creature Comforts team, and to have the chance to get to know and care for all the patients, aka Family Members, here at Creature Comforts Animal Clinic!

Vanessa Kapusta

Registered Vet Tech

Vanessa grew up in Montreal Quebec and spent many hours volunteering at the SPCA down the road from her father’s house. She has a huge soft spot for shelter animals and rescues. She grew up with dogs and cats her whole life, and spent some time riding horses when she could. She moved to Calgary Alberta in October 2008, and in 2009 she met her husband. They spent many years fostering medical case animals and will spend summer months volunteering with the Canadian Animal Task Force! They currently share a home with 4 dogs and 5 cats. Their dream is to own an acreage with dog pool’s, agility tools and some catio’s. They are also hoping to do more overseas spay and neuter clinics in 2021!

Vanessa worked in a general practice for 7 years then ventured off to an emergency and specialty hospital to build knowledge on her love for emergency, anesthesia and pain management. While emergency medicine is a huge part of her passion, she wanted to be able to reconnect again with people and their pets in primary medicine. To keep up with her emergency skills, she will find time to locum at surrounding emergency hospitals. When Vanessa is not working, you could find her either at home, crafting and spending time with her family, or exploring Alberta’s beautiful province with her husband and dogs!
